Layashree Joshi

Layashree Joshi is a Mumbai-based cinematographer who completed her Post-Graduate specialisation in Cinematography at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata. Her professional journey includes assisting across a wide spectrum of commercials, web series, and feature films such as Khufiya, Kuttey, Char Yaar, and Summer of ’76, to name a few, alongside lensing independent short films and documentaries like Chiffon and Taapar. She has also served as a 2nd Unit DOP on non-fiction and ad projects like Hunt for Indian Mujahideen, and as a camera operator on web-series like Hiccups & Hookups.

With roots in grassroots documentation and documentary photography across India, an innate curiosity for observing human behavior and natural light guides her visual perspective.

She finds equal joy in shooting fiction and non-fiction. For her, cinema is a continuous exploration of light, emotion, movement, and mood, and she looks forward to growing and learning with every new story she helps bring to life.
