Dhawalika moved to Mumbai after graduating from A.J. Kidwai Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi. Her film Kutch Express, tells the story of a woman who goes on a journey self discovery with the aid of art and the support of her mother-in-law, The film won three National Awards in 2024. She also shot a thriller, Dear Father, that tells the story of a family dabbling living together in a world of empowered women . Dhawalika shot an independent feature, Pushtaini, directed by Vinod Rawat in 2019. The film was selected for its debut at MAMI 2023.The film was presented by Hrithik Roshan for a theatrical release in 2024. Pushtaini also went to the Austin Indie film festival and Columbia Film Festival. Her latest project was a sitcom directed by Rohan Sippy that is still under production. Dhawalika also shot the official Indian adaptation of The Office.
Dhawalika has also shot documentaries with international crews. Her latest, Limitless, was with Channel News Asia.
